This is a side project that i’ve completed this trimester that I’ve yet to blog about!

I didn’t think I was going to talk about this project as I did it for another subject but I am really happy with the end result and I think that this demonstrates mixing choices to a genre or reference track.

My project for CIU was to create an Interdisciplinary project to match a subculture. Myself and 3 others (Film, Design, Animation) were in a group and decided to create a music visualiser (music video) to a song to try and match something from within the PC Music subculture. In this mix it’s important to note that PC music is quite a niche genre that takes a bit of listening to in order to get a full understanding of the overall aesthetic - I say this because I have chosen particular processing choices in this mix in order to suit my references and make it fit within the genre, so looking at references is something that was important when creating this mix.

Since this is the first time i’ve ever spoken about this track, heres what it sounds like and this is the final version thats posted up on youtube:

and these are some of the references I was getting at for this project:

Here's a video of me running through the mixdown and the processes that I've used (for some reason Youtube wouldn't let me upload this one so I had to upload it to Vimeo instead):
